New American Standard Bible (NASB 1995)

The New American Standard Bible 1995 (NASB 1995) is an updated edition of the 1977 New American Standard Bible, produced by The Lockman Foundation. The 1995 revision refined vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure to improve clarity and readability while preserving the translation’s commitment to accuracy and its literal character.

The NASB 1995 follows a formal-equivalence translation philosophy, seeking to represent as closely as possible the wording, grammar, and structure of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts while expressing their meaning clearly in English.

For the Old Testament, the translation employed Rudolf Kittel’s Biblia Hebraica, together with research from lexicography, cognate languages, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. For the New Testament, consideration was given to the available Greek manuscript evidence, with the 26th edition of Nestle’s Novum Testamentum Graece followed in most instances.

The Sovereign Creator Has Spoken (SCS)

The Sovereign Creator Has Spoken is an English translation of the New Testament by Wilbur N. Pickering, ThM, PhD, based directly on his edition of the Greek text, The Greek New Testament According to Family 35. That Greek edition is the result of Pickering’s extensive study and collation of New Testament manuscripts belonging to the textual tradition he identifies as Family 35.

Pickering considers Family 35 to be an ancient and independent line of transmission with a demonstrable archetypal form throughout all 27 books of the New Testament, and argues that it preserves the original wording of the text. SCS was translated from that Greek text and includes extensive notes and commentary by Pickering dealing with textual, linguistic and interpretive matters.
